My overall feelings of this work experience was amazing. I really enjoyed it and found it really useful. I would have liked longer in new business but at the same time I did enjoy working on Clapham as well. At least I know now where my qualities lie and where I will be good at for future employment. I am also glad my talents were lightened and people knew me - I was told I was the best intern they had every had which is a massive complement and that they want me to come back. I definately think I will consider working there again next summer if not apply for a job after I finish. I think a big aspect which helped my time at Lewis was friday drinks as that is when everyone relaxes and you get to know the people you are working with really well and you actually want to get up for work in the morning and see everyone as well as work. The thing I love about PR is that it is consistent and it is always changing, Lewis PR was a great way to learn PR as when they are at work they all work really hard but when they play and socialise they all really chill out and have fun. I think that is what makes a business :). Every employee seems happy and really respects and likes Chris Lewis - which I also think is a key aspect.

Work Experience

Revamped the rest of the powerpoint as there were 145 of them in all which took me all day to complete. In between I did a few photoshopping tweaks changing some pictures and revamping them, for there pitch for Three next week. A-team - 3 team then adding speeches/quotes to a few photos. Generally I was pretty busy as new business is the main place where the rebranding will be coming from, as the starter before heading to the rest of the business but all the documents, clients, stationary and everything starts with new business.

Work Experience

Completed the logo findings by placing it on an excel doc and making it easy to understand. After that I updated a load of Salesforce clients to check there address, numbers, names etc. The final thing I did was started to revamp all of new biz's old power points to make the slick and consistent throughout - getting the right font, size and colour to make it easy to change when it came to it.

Work Experience

Did activities for Llona for her leaving party by photoshopping the trotters van and adding her name on it. (inside joke) again getting involved in photoshop.
After and for the duration of the day I found where the lewis logo is present in all external documents etc - to make it easier when it is being rebranded to change all the documents. As well as help write releases to send to clients about our new rebranding.

Work Experience - Move to New Business

Moved to New Biz. My first job was to find coverage for Lewis PR 15th bash. Which was really positive. We then researched a new sport called sport Kabaddi before doing a press list - generally I didn't do anything different in new biz then I have done in Clapham so far

Work Experience

I think it was a blur for most people in the office after the Lewis 15th party, didn't do much and i don't think anybody did, I went and got a group of sausage and bacon butties for the office - definate working in a PR company :). Other then that i did bits and bobs of work. Then Colin -head of new business talked to me about my future and he said that I had raw talents in PR and I am confident, talkative, I can hold a room and could produce a pitch and create a big client base due to my way of words. So as of next week I am going to be moving to new biz - to help source the clients, pitch and get involved in the core of the business.

Work Experience - LEWIS PR party

Completed Photoshop stuff
Gentronix scan then sent more digi dinner stuff before helping Kerry with BMI and bmifriday -
setting clocks, sending them off, labelling etc. Went to the rebranding launch meeting and learnt about the companies methods and what they are abour and the reasons behind the new logo. Finally the plan of the day was to attend the Lewis 15th party - mingling with clients, networking etc.
Was an amazing night - it was brilliant being able to mingle with our clients as well as with other employers - I got to know people really well. It was a definate success and we also got a lot of coverage all around the world and people saying Happy Birthday to the company across lots of social media elements as well as on news feeds. I don't think Chris could have asked for anything more.

Work Experience

Contacted Karan for YouGov for final answers for the F-Secure survey. Researched Saleforce on some award opportunities. Lastly created a Photoshop - discount cards. I loved the fact I was able to use my photoshop skills to my advantage and my bosses in the office were really impressed I could use it. I then had to finalise lists and aspects of the Lewis 15th party tomorrow.

Work Experience

Wrote a pitch in reference to the F-Secure blog about twitter hackers. Then created a coverage book for Thunderhead for Knightsbridge. After I laminated stuff for Debbie in relation to office stuff before updating a press list for Venda. After I started to create a Powerpoint for a pitch of a new potential client.

Work Experience

The beginning of the day consisted of contacting some magazines about forward features coming up, before looking for evidence on the collaboration with Venda and Anthropologie - and there was one in the guardian. I felt really useful here as thoughout the office I was the only person to know anything about Anthropologie due to my course - so I was very happy and felt slightly important. After I looked at 'people' magazine and the information on Salesforce and the 'Asian Elephants' money raising events. Lastly before lunch I chased up the endorsment deals for the celebrities a google doc for Venda. After I and got some answers.
In the afternoon is was a lot of little jobs including updating the google doc for MphasiS forward features before creating research to find out who wrote a specific article for retail week. Before finalising the day by going to a talk by Jamie Lidelle from Outsourcing Magazine. This was really useful as it was a magazine publisher - so from a PR respective we got a look into what a publisher actually thinks of PR agencies and how is the best way to get hold of them and what information they find interesting and useful.

Work Experience

Found out endorsement costs from Fashion Photographers, travel celebs, rugby stars, Sue Barker - it was really hard, agencies are so stingy and are rubbish at handing out information. I only got a quote from Sue Barker and all I can say it is ridiculous. The price for just a few words printed was around £20,000, but if we were looking at a full blown campaign it was more like £250,000. I then changed the currency of financial outgoings from Euros - pounds. I then looked for Christmas features.

Work Experience

For the digital mobile dinner coming up on 1st July I printed out and completed the menu, map, compliment letter and created the packages to send to people. These are the types of dinners I would love to be involved in as this is when you get to socialise with your clients, get to know them better, and get feedback of how they think Lewis PR is helping their business, as well as find key information out about the business to give them better coverage. I also did as normal the weekly Getronics scan before doing some amazing laminating. Completed Knightsbridge work by adding features to Thunderheads report status. Then started to contact music agents to get a quote for a possible endorsement deal for F-Secure.

Work Experience

Ordered the final USB's before contacting publications about upcoming features that our clients could make comment or contribute too. I then completed the press lists before contacting retail week about their power list - very helpful.
I then had to help finalise things for Lewis 15th party on the Thursday.

Work Experience

I found out how much it would cost to put a print page in a number of different magazines for a single of DPB and got an over cost of the price of certain coverage. Went through the Knightbridge press lists to check if every publication still exists followed by updating the google doc with information. This was a slow day of jobs - I did not do much at all, but it went pretty quickly.

Work Experience

A busy but quick day in the office. The first activity of the day involved changing some PDF files into word document before creating a features list for I-Robot including key words such as gadgets, cleaning, robots, robotics, consumer electronics, house/homes, technology and from this I then wrote a review of the information I had found before writing a pitch. Then a few quick jobs including ringing YouGov again to find out how long a survey would take and if the UK includes Ireland, then contacting the Atrium to confirm a booking for the 13th July for a client dinner and pitch.
After lunch I had to research about JUMP which is marketing conference in London taking place in October and write about it - to send to Fe. Before creating an online Google doc for each client - to enable people to add features of things for each clients.
Finally for Knightsbridge I had to research how much certain publication costs for their print pages - depending on the coverage which was found and the size of the article.

Work Experience

I completed the weekly Getronics scan before binding the SAG coverage - all for Knightsbridge. I then wrote a pitch for Moshi Monsters for an article which is coming up from County Magazine about summer fun for the kids and wrote a pitch for them to include Moshi Monster in it.
I then created a press list for F-Secure about all parent magazine in relations to their women's blog.
Finally got forward features from CRN, Computing, Computer Weekly, Computer World UK for NDSATCOM - one of our clients.

Work Experience

I got given a top secret job which no one else in the business knows about except me, Sally and Chris Lewis. Lewis PR is rebranding so I had to do some top secrete quote findings. They are wanting to get a load of USB printed - stange I know - so I had to research just plain black ones first but then researched quotes for how much it would cost for 2 colours 4GB and 8GB. The two secret colours are black and gold - quiet exciting - complete rebranding new logo etc, i might give it a go on Photoshop and show them some ideas - it wouldn't hurt :)
After the morning activities I wrote another pitch for F-Secure about child's protection online this summer - this was in response to their female blog. For Salesforce I had to research upcoming events and conferences they may be interested in to either attend or speak at.
Then I helped Alex out to create another coverage booklet but this time it was more like 30 pages a lot easier to order.
Finally I helped with the F-Secure sales report to finish the day - busy day but was so fun I like being busy - i'm so honoured to be involved in knowing the rebranding before other people, means a lot - definately going to mock some stuff up - why not what's the worst that can happen???

Work Experience

This was a day of a lot of jobs and bits and bobs - the first thing in the morning was researching for our clients F-Secure to look if anyone had commented on our press release about the world cup and the amount of malware virus's that will occuras people will be trying to get cheap tickets to go and will get scammed.
For Angel team I had to do a features list for Citrix then for Moshi Monster write my ideas for a list of key words that represented them, then using Features Exec- create a features list.
For Knightsbridge and Tara I had to complete and print off the Software AG coverage book - good job I am not a tree hugger as there must have been 200 pages - the stack was huge, I had to arrange them in date order, month and day - actually was vagly satisfying.
Lastly I had to telephone YouGov and find out how much a survye would cost in the UK, France, Germany and the US. The lady I spoke to Karan was lovely and really helpful.

Work Experience

An exciting day today and first sort of proper important work - I had to write a pitch for journalistand a press realease about Adobe malware problem with their new adobe program. After tweaking and finalising it, it was sent to a senior head to be looked over before heading to the journalists - how exciting they can now writed about what i have written. :)
I then researched the Mobile World's Congress 2011 to find information for our clients Salesforce to identify if it is a good idea for them to be speaker or not. I had to ring up Barcelona as that is where it is held to find out essential information.
Finally I had to do a rapid response news feed for all clients. Rapid response is when you scan all the news feeds published in the last few hours to see if any of them would be important for our clients to know - and if there was a story that just came out that was important then we could respond or pass comment for our clients quickly.

Work Experience

Monday always consists of busy press briefing due to weekend and Monday morning news. I did not do too much today except updated Journalist for MphasiS from Gokana and created coverage for Tara and create PDF files for clients Getronics and MphasiS. So it was more of a bits and bobs day. But I am definately settling in well and the Friday drinks really helped to get to know my work colleges really well. I am also starting to get to know the clients well and noticing stories in the papers that might be worthwhile to my clients as well as noticing what their competitors are doing. It is a 24hr job, having to keep your wits about you constantly but it is good.

Work Experience

I can't believe it is already Friday and the end of the week. Today was a lot less of a hectic day then Thursday. I first had to sort out the coverage analysis for UC4 from May 09 - April 2010. Then Laminate some Emprise coverage for Tara for a conference with Emprise clients for the beginning of next week.
I got more replies, posts, phone calls from magazines - so I updated the Lantronix excel document. I then chased up some journalists for Angel team for Moshi Monster to see if they liked the pack which had been sent to them.
The final thing of the day involved for F- Secure, changing coverage from word documents into PDF format so that we could keep a soft copy on our server.
So as fridays went it was quite a nice easy and relaxing day. I got my first experience of friday night work drinks - what a lot of fun that was. I forgot how much people in PR companies like to drink and socialise. It was around the time of the heatwave in London so it was amazing socialising at Riverside bar located just off the Thames just a short walk away from Milbank Tower.

Work Experience

Not the variant day in terms of tasks, as the 1st task I got took me from 9 - 3 to complete without having a lunch break. For Chris I was in charge of going on Features Exec again except this time getting all features from now - November for all of Clapham commons clients - F-Secure, MphasiS, Salesforce and Venda. With around about 50 keywords, it was long.
After I finally completed that I did a news reviews of the last weeks news for Getronics and sent them to Tara to create a press packet. I started getting call backs and post from magazine publication today who were interested in featuring Lantronics, it was very exciting I felt like part of the team/company. For those who were rude enough not to telephone me back I emailed them again to see if that would make them respond.

Work Experience

To make LewisPR work and make it different to other PR Companies it retains an employment level of very high profiled people including people like Paul Charles, David Brown, Colin Jacobs and Clarence Mitchell - most of these are old journalist and business owners - this is what makes them unique. As part of this every morning at 8.30 there is a press briefing where we would sit and go through the morning papers to look at key headlines and stories and see if anything in the news would be beneficial to our clients of general news.
The second day started very early with the press briefing at 8 this morning to read about today's news and anything that would be relevant to any of our clients and generally any big news. I was surprised today that the cancer blood test report was not huge news it was in fact secondary to the BP crisis, which i know is a massive story but a blood test that can now determine lung cancer is a break through.
To start the day at my desk I had to complete one of the tasks from yesterday - finishing off the MephasiS press list. That again took a lot longer than i expected, after I helped Chris print out some booklets for our clients Salesforce who were coming in for a meeting later on that day to discuss the PR activities for quarter 1 and the PR activities Lewis would be doing for quarter 2.
After that i was giving some work by Claire from the Angel team - my task was to telephone lots of different magazines in regards to getting sample magazines for our new client Lanronix to investigate for possible advertorial and editorial opportunities in the future - to see where Lantronix wants to advertise.
That was just this morning - In the afternoon it was on to a few quick jobs to end the day - firstly using Features Exec. Features Exec is an online program where journalist write down upcoming articles that companies can find out what is coming up and if anything is relevant then they can contact the journalist and ask if they would like one of our clients to make a comment. I had to check what will be out from June - the end of the year with relevant keywords for a client proofpoint - who are a security company. There were not that many features or updates so that was a pretty quick job. The last job of the day was for a client called Venda. For them I had to look at recent magazines and see if there is a specific feature within each issue from each month.

Work Experience

The day started at 10am as it was my induction day- so luckily due to it being later it wasn't that busy on the tubes or getting across London - tottering in my suit across London - was as exciting as ever. Westminster hadn't changed at all apart from the campers and protesters outside Westminster trying to stop the war.
When I arrived it was forms and admin as normal and waiting to be placed in a team and ready to start work. Lewis PR is broken up into different teams within the office due to the different clients each of the teams have.
I was on Clapham team - with my clients being Energyhelpline, F-secure, MephasiS, Salesforce and Venda.
Within the office there were PR teams - i.e. Clapham, Knightbridge, Angel etc then Octane - which had different clients, Consumer team and lastly new business that were the sole of the business, they were reponsible for finding new clients, wooing them and retaining the clients.
I had to complete many tasks throughout today - my first task was to update the entire journalist database for F-secure using Gorkana - which is an online database of contacts for journalists as well as updating the journalist database for MephasiS.
Following on from this Tara from the Knightsbridge team assigned me a task for their client Emprise. Emprise is a cleaning and security company, for this task I had to research all relevant articles which would be useful for Emprise for the month of May. Today tasks were pretty easy - but time consuming - from tomorrow it is the start of the rest of my internship getting in at 8.30 to read the papers and discuss relevant stories until 5.30 - 9hrs and not being paid it is a hard life, but I really enjoy it.
